Sprucing up your work surfaces

Your work surfaces can succumb to wear and tear and become damaged over time. To prevent this, we recommend you:

• ALWAYS use a chopping board.
• Use protective mats or trivets when dealing with hot pans or casserole dishes.
• Move surface appliances regularly and wash the area where they have been standing.
• Mop up spills and accidents immediately, especially on joints and around the sink and cut-out hob areas.
• Ceramic Tiles- Clean dirty gout with a toothbrush and solution made up of four parts water and one part bleach. Wipe over afterwards with a cloth and allow to dry.
• Natural solid surfaces- Use an all-purpose cleaner, wiping it down with soapy, hot water. Cif, or any other cream cleaner, can be used to remove stains while nylon bristles can be used to get deep into the grain.
• Stainless Steel- Spreading a dab of cooking or baby oil around dirty areas can help to remove fingerprints and marks. For thorough cleaning use a washing up solution then dry with a soft cloth.
• Wood- Treat as any other surface, although make sure to reoil the worktops every few months to help resist water and stains.
