Ideas to Keep your Kitchen Cozy in the Autumn

Autumn brings lots of good things – the leaves changing, great tv and those fantastic Autumnal colours. However, two things that nobody likes are the cold weather and the dark nights. So, now’s the time to make sure your house, and kitchen, are as cozy as possible. There are plenty of ways to do this, and to make your life a little easier; we’ve compiled several of the best tips for you.

Firstly, lighting can be everything. The difference between a cold, lifeless space and one that makes you feel right at home can be as simple as what light sources are in the room. The likes of fluorescent lights are best avoided as they cast a very harsh and artificial light. Cabinet lighting, LED spot lights and (best of all) candles are the best ways to make your kitchen feel intimate and somewhere you want to spend a lot of time.

Almost as important as lighting is the decor of your kitchen. Tablecloths, place settings and blinds/curtains that have Autumnal colour schemes are ideal for making your kitchen a cozy Autumn snug.

Seasonal accessories can also be fantastic method for creating a warm atmosphere – Autumnal garlands, seasonal candles and seasonal accessories are a great way to liven up the room without having to break the bank.

This one may seem self explanatory, but one of the most important ways to keep a cozy kitchen is cooking the right foods. There’s nothing better than walking into your kitchen and being immediately hit by the wonderful fragrance of a seasonal meal. Roast dinners are the best for this, however that doesn’t mean that you can’t try something else. Stew, soup, risotto, lasagne, pies – all of these foods will smell great and taste absolutely delicious on a cold day.

Creating a Social Space

The final piece of advice we have is to make sure you keep your kitchen a social space. Having friends and family fill your kitchen, and house, is the best way to create a warm and welcoming environment. Nothing’s better than surrounding yourself with the people you love to cheer you up on those cold rainy Autumn nights.

If you combine all four of these tips, then people will be begging you to have them over so they can bask in your amazing seasonal kitchen.

Make sure you stay happy, stay warm and stay cozy in your kitchen this Autumn!
