Spring into Easter

Easter is a great time for the family to unite and spend some quality time together. To inspire your Easter Sunday we have put together some recipes and crafts to decorate your home with.

Easter Sunday Recipes

Admittedly, we all over indulge in chocolate at Easter time and we love it! Regrettably however, an all-chocolate diet is not recommended and is far from healthy. We have put together a couple of delicious but cost efficient inspiring ideas for your Easter Sunday menu:

🌼Breakfast – Baked Eggs What better to have for breakfast on Easter Sunday than eggs?! The beauty of this breakfast is that you can usually find something in your cupboard to use. Simply choose some ingredients from the fridge and lay them in the bottom of a small ramekin, then crack one or two eggs on top and pop in the oven on a med-high heat for 8-10 minutes. This is a quick hassle free breakfast that’s not only delicious but also healthy.

🌼Roast Dinner – Chilli Kick Lamb

Stud the lamb with rosemary springs and garlic cloves, then spread any extras around the base of the roasting tin. Pour a generous helping of red wine in the roasting tin so the lamb is sitting in an aromatic pool of wine, rosemary and garlic. Coat the lamb in a little virgin olive oil, sea salt and black pepper and cover the tray with foil. Put into a preheated oven at 160c and leave for 3 hours 30 minutes while you enjoy a glass of that leftover red wine! Take the lamb out of the oven, remove the foil, discard of any excess juices, coat with lemon juice and chilli jam and return to the over for 40 minutes. Enjoy with a glass of red wine and roast vegetables. Alternatively, this tastes delicious served with Greek salad, toasted pitta bread and tzatziki for dipping.

🌼Dessert – Personalised Pavlova

Try putting a twist on this classic dessert to impressive your family and friends. Whether you want to make one large dessert for people to delve into, or you’d rather individual meringues, try adding some delicious Easter toppings. Make a nest on the top of the Pavlova of all of your favourite sweet treats! Nestle in some mini eggs, fruit, strawberries, raspberries, snapped Easter egg etc. This is a fun recipe to make and if you want to skip the tough bit, then just buy a pre-made meringue to top off (no one will ever know)!

🌼Evening Meal – Tasty Tart

This is such an easy recipe and it takes no time at all to make, and the great thing is you can just pop it in fridge and come back for more the next day. Preheat the oven to 200c. Roll out a sheet of puff pastry onto a baking tray and score a rectangle 1-2 inches from the edge. Pierce all over with a fork and then add the toppings of your choice. Cook for 20 minutes until golden brown and then allow to cool. Store in the fridge to use later on or the next day. The topping can be whatever you fancy or whatever needs to be used up in the fridge, but if you want some inspiration here are a few suggestions:

🐣  Tomato, pesto, mozzarella and basil

🐣  Barbecue base, precooked chicken, chorizo, courgette, peppers and onion

🐣  Goats cheese, spinach and caramelised onion

🐣  Salmon, feta cheese, spinach, mint and lemon

🐣  Crispy bacon, redcurrant jelly, camembert, spinach and avocado (added after cooking)

🐣  Or, you could use leftovers from dinner: mint base with roast lamb and mixed vegetables.

There are so many creative ways you can transform your house in time for Easter, and you don’t need to spend a fortune doing so! Try some DIY crafts at home to add a festive touch to your kitchen this Easter.

🌼Easter Bunting

Bunting is a great way to brighten up your home. You could make bunting that could stay up all year round, or use a floral pattern to display in the Spring and Summer. Alternatively, you could create festive bunting to help celebrate Easter. Depending on how much time you want to put into this project you could either make the bunting from scratch or alternatively buy some bunting and then decorate it. If you want bunting up all year round you could even keep the same (fabric) up all year round and make Velcro decorations to alternate through the year: Easter, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Halloween, Christmas, birthdays etc.

🌼Easter Tree

An Easter tree is a great way to create a beautiful decoration to brighten up your home which is also extremely cost efficient to make. This project is great fun, so why not make it a family event and get the kids/grandkids involved. Go on a country walk and collect lots of twigs to put in a vase when you return home. Hang Easter decorations and chocolates from the branches and display somewhere it will be appreciated. You could spray the twigs with pastel colours or white paint and/or glitter, or decorate with fairy lights.
