We often think of a new kitchen in terms of aesthetic design or functionality. But too often the ergonomics of a kitchen can be overlooked. How our bodies interact with the kitchen environment will dictate how much we use and enjoy the space. Good kitchen designers will often give priority to the ‘kitchen work triangle’ – oven, refrigerator and sink. Reducing the distance between the three corners of the triangle, ensuring that there is no direct obstruction and, where possible, routing normal household ‘traffic’ away will all help to maintain the ergonomic integrity of the working area.
Lighting is also a critical part of ergonomic design. Correctly lighting the workspaces where cooking and chopping occur is essential for practical use and for safety. Both ceiling and counter top lights can be incorporated to complement the space, and will also feature heavily in the final look and feel of your overall kitchen.
At Dream Doors we work to ensure that strong ergonomic principles are followed and we combine this with great quality products, contemporary design and exemplary service.
